The body of missing boater Earl L. Graham, 53, of Narvon, Pennsylvania was found at the mouth of the Sassafras River. 

The Sassafras River is a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay on the Delmarva Peninsula.

Update- Sept. 19, 8:15 p.m.

Perryville, MD.–Recovery team suspends search on North East River (upper Chesapeake Bay) for the body of 53-year-old male Pennsylvania boater. Efforts will resume at 6:00 a.m.


Update-Sept. 19, 4:00 p.m.

Perryville, MD.– On Sept. 19, at 3:45 p.m., Maryland Natural Resources Police released additional information about the 53-year-old male from Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

The male that is being searched for reportedly left the private campground that he was staying at for an evening boat ride. The boat is believed to be a 23 ft center console.

“At approximately 2:45 a.m., someone reported that a boat was doing circles in open water around Turkey Point,” said Candy Thomson, who is the Public Information Officer for the Maryland Natural Resources Police.

Agencies that are assisting with the search include Harford County Police Department, Kent County Police Department, Aberdeen Proving Ground, The United States Coast Guard, and the Maryland Natural Resources Police.

The searching that is still happening began at approximately 3:30 a.m.  

Currently, the Maryland Natural Resources Police is downloading the information from the GPS that was on the boat when this incident occurred.

A effort is underway to recover the body of a 53-year-old man from York, Pennsylvania. The rescue effort is being concentrated near Turkey Point.

Turkey Point is considered to be the upper Chesapeake Bay.
