St. Maryโ€™s County native Randy Guy is running for St. Maryโ€™s County Commissioner President; he will be unopposed in the June 24 Primary. Guy has been in public service all of his life; he is a former St. Maryโ€™s County Republican Central Committee member, and ran for a commissionerโ€™s seat in 2010. He lives in his โ€œdream homeโ€ in Clements, and believes that quality of life is the key. The core value big issues which he believes we face in the county are schools/education, roads/transportation, and emergency services (such as the Sheriffโ€™s Department, MedStar, and the Fire Department). He also is committed to not spending money unless itโ€™s necessary, and good-naturedly describes himself as a โ€œstingyโ€ guy. He realizes that women make up the majority of voters and knows how important it will be to encourage everyone to come out to vote โ€“ especially in the June 24 Primary. Randy has been a featured speaker at several recent county events, notably at the Republican Women of St. Maryโ€™s Club meeting held on April 28 at The Front Porch Restaurant in Leonardtown, and at the Republican Women of St. Maryโ€™s GOP Candidates Debate on May 6 held at the Lexington Park Library.

2012 Republican Woman of the Year: Mary Lou Rose

Back in 2008, Mary Lou Rose made up her mind that she would no longer just โ€œsit on the sidelines,โ€ voting every two and four years, and then sitting back to wonder what she didnโ€™t like about what happened. So, she joined the St. Maryโ€™s County Republican Womenโ€™s Club, the St. Maryโ€™s County Republican Central Committee, and the St. Maryโ€™s County Republican Club. She worked at the County Fair, and at the polls for early voting and for General Elections, and she learned โ€“ and is still learning today how our system works (or, in some cases, does not work). She strongly believes that unless we become involved, we cannot understand the makeup of the process that brings us to the actual voting stage. She has found the learning process very interesting as she has met many new people who work very hard during the interim (between elections) to bring us all together. She says that recently she received a business call from someone in Petersburg, Virginia. During the conversation he said, โ€œI hear you were named 2012 Republican Woman of the Year for St. Maryโ€™s Countyโ€. She thinks that itโ€™s amazing what word of mouth can do and what it can accomplish. She invites you to please visit the various Republican clubs in the area to join in continuing the important work of reinvigorating and securing our great country. She hopes to see you soon.
