March Is Womenโ€™s History Month. In todayโ€™s column we spotlight Cindy Jones (R), who has served as a St. Maryโ€™s County Commissioner since December, 2010. During that time, she has experienced first-hand the effects Annapolis politics has had on local decision-making. PlanMaryland removed local autonomy regarding land use decisions. The General Assembly pushed teacher pension costs down to the counties. SB 236 and the EPAโ€™s Watershed Improvement Plan created unfunded mandates. It is time to send a proven leader to Annapolis, someone who will put southern Maryland first. Cindy is a candidate for Maryland State Senate. The Primary election is scheduled for June 24, 2014.

Maryland Day

MD GOP Chair Diana Waterman has sent out Happy Maryland Day wishes for March 25 to commemorate that day in 1634 marking the first European settlersโ€™ arrival in Maryland at St. Clementโ€™s Island in St. Maryโ€™s County. The Maryland General Assembly authorized the date in 1916.
