False statement to a police officer leads to an arrest

On July 12, 2013, Deputies responded to the Charlotte Hall Motel in Charlotte Hall, Maryland, for an assault.  Robert Steven Nelson, 30 of Mechanicsville, Maryland, and the victim were involved in an argument that escalated into an assault. 

Nelson repeatedly assaulted the victim leaving visible injury.  Deputy Austin Schultz arrested and charged Nelson with 2nd Degree Assault.

On July 13, 2013, Shannon Annette Rowley, 25 of Mechanicsville, Maryland, contacted Deputy Austin Schultz regarding an assault she reported on July 12, 2013. 

Rowley advised Deputy Schultz she was never assaulted by Robert Steven Nelson, 30 of Mechanicsville, Maryland. Rowley advised she was only involved in a verbal argument with Nelson and fabricated the assault to have him arrested. 

Rowley was arrested and charged with False Statement to a Police Officer.
