HUGHESVILLE, Md. – A family of four was displaced early Sunday morning after a fire destroyed their Hughesville home.
The fire broke out around 4:07 a.m. at a one-story house in the 16000 block of Overhill Way. The homeowner called 911, reporting his house was on fire and he was trying to evacuate everyone. Another 911 call came in from a neighbor, stating the house was fully engulfed in flames.

Fire and rescue personnel arrived on the scene to find flames showing throughout the roof and spreading toward the nearby woods. The incident was quickly upgraded, prompting surrounding fire departments to respond.
Firefighters managed to get the fire under control within 30 minutes, and it was reported extinguished at 5:05 a.m. However, crews remained on the scene due to hoarding conditions inside the home.

The Red Cross has been notified to assist the displaced family, which includes three adults and one child. No injuries have been reported.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal has been requested to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire.

We will continue to provide updates as they become available.
