Maryland State Police in La Plata are investigating a fatal hit and run accident in Waldorf. On Jan. 14, at 2:35 a.m., Patricia Yvette Mason, 48 of Accokeek, was walking eastbound on MD Route 228 east of Chestnut Drive on the right shoulder, when the operator of a an unknown vehicle was traveling in the same location, for an unknown reason struck the pedestrian. After striking Mason, the unknown vehicle fled the scene of the collision.
Mason was transported to Civista Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Mason later succumb to the injuries she sustained from the collision and was subsequently pronounced deceased.
