St. Mary’s County Deputy Pontorno responded to the Callaway Village Center located in Callaway on October 2nd at 12:20 p.m., after a complainant reported finding a 3 year old male walking unattended in the parking lot.

The investigation revealed the victim’s father identified as Joseph David Dirolf, 29, of Callaway, fell asleep after taking prescription medication. Joseph Dirolf had been watching the victim at home, while the victim’s mother identified as suspect Danielle Irene Dirolf, 27, of Callaway, played video games, inside the home. 

At some point, the victim left the residence and walked through the woods past a pond to the Callaway Village Center.

The victim was wearing only wearing pants. Joseph Dirolf had just been charged with neglect of a minor stemming from a similar incident on September 25, 2014.

Joseph Dirolf was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. He was charged with Neglect of a Minor. Danielle Dirolf (NP) was charged with Neglect of a Minor on October 2, 2014 by criminal summons.
