It took crews two hours to control the flames.

There were no injuries reported.

The Calvert County Sheriffโ€™s Office had portions of Chaneyville Road shut down for over 10 hours. School buses leaving Northern High and Northern Middle schools were rerouted.

โ€œThe fire was determined to be accidental from fire spreading into the walls from a wood stove,โ€ Dfm. Jeff Nelson stated. โ€œThe balloon frame construction of the house spread the fire throughout the house, making it difficult for the fire departments to extinguish. The house was completely destroyed. The family was displaced and is being assisted by other family members.โ€

The estimated loss is $175,000.
