Leonardtown, MD – The Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department cordially invites the Southern Maryland community to participate in the first Fight Like a Kid 5k Walk and Fun Run on Saturday, December 19th at 9:00 a.m. The event is a fundraiser for Nolan Scully, the three year old son of Leonardtown Fire Chief Jonathan Scully and will start and end at the Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department.
Nolan was recently diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare soft tissue cancer, which is centralized in his nasal area and is causing difficulty with breathing. At this time it is expected for him to have 43 weeks of Chemotherapy, and 5.5 weeks of Radiation. His treatment is being done at Georgetown, St. Mary’s, and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. All proceeds from the event will go directly to the Scully family to pay for Nolan’s treatment, as well as transportation and housing.
Register at Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department nightly from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. the week of December 14th though 18th, or on the day of the race.
