On June 19 at 1:49ย p.m., firefighters and rescue crews were dispatched to 44500 block of ย Blake Creek Road for the reported working house fire and fire in the walls in Valley Lee.
Crews arrived on the scene to discoverย a working house fire in a two-story single family dwelling.ย Everyone in the homeย wasย able toย escape without injury.

Fourty-six firefighters from Valley Lee, Bay District, Ridge, Seventh District, Leonardtown and Patuxent River Naval Station helped to battle the blaze. A total ofย four engines,ย five pumper tankers,ย two trucks,ย one tower, one water supply unit, andย two ambulances responded to the call. Units operated on the sceneย for overย three hours.
One firefighter was transported to St. Mary’s Hospitalย with lacerations to his hand. A family of four was displaced an being assisted by the American Red Cross.
The fire resulted from an electrical malfunction.ย The Maryland State Fire Marshall’s Office continues to investigate.
