MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — Firefighters extinguished a camper fire Tuesday evening in the 42200 block of Ridge Road in Mechanicsville, with no injuries reported.

Crews were dispatched Jan. 20, 2026, around 7:30 p.m. following a report of a camper on fire. Responders located a 40-foot fifth-wheel camper with fire showing from the wheel well area. Command was established upon arrival, and water supply operations were set up as crews moved in to contain the flames.

Officials said the fire was nearly extinguished within about 15 minutes, and it was declared out at approximately 7:53 p.m. A personnel accountability check confirmed all responders were accounted for.

Roughly 55 personnel responded to the incident, though units were reduced as conditions improved.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
