Marbury, MD – The Charles County Commissioners announced the Walmart FLW (Fishing League Worldwide) Tour at the Potomac River, a competitive tour in professional bass fishing, from Thursday, June 25 to Sunday, June 28.
The tournament begins at Smallwood State Park, 2750 Sweden Point Road, Marbury, at 6:30 a.m. each day.
“It is a privilege to host the annual Walmart FLW tournament. This tournament reflects the uniqueness and vitality of our county, and I hope that those who enjoy the week’s events will come back to visit,” said Commissioner Debra M. Davis (District 2).
Chief of Tourism Timothy Morgan said, “We look forward to hosting anglers from across the United States for this tournament. Smallwood State Park in Charles County is known nationally as a top bass fishing spot and we sincerely appreciate their efforts to travel many miles to visit us.”
Weigh-ins for Thursday, June 25 and Friday, June 26 are held at Smallwood State Park, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Final weigh-ins for Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28 will be held at the La Plata Walmart (40 Drury Drive, La Plata), beginning at 4 p.m.
During the Walmart FLW Tour at Potomac River, there will be 148 of the world’s best bass fishing professionals and co-anglers competing for awards of up to $125,000 in the pro-division and up to $25,000 in the co-angler division.
Fans can also enjoy the FLW Expo on Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28 from noon to 4 p.m. at the La Plata Walmart. The Expo includes a Ranger boat simulator, opportunities to interact with professional anglers, games and giveaways, and education about the sport of fishing.
All activities are free and open to the public.
Fishing pros Rich Dalbey and Todd Hollowell’s “Hooked on Helping” foundation will host a food drive to benefit a local food bank. Fans who donate five or more cans of food will be entered to win a $50 Walmart gift card.
Coverage of the Potomac River tournament will be broadcast in high-definition (HD) on NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) on Monday, Nov. 2 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. EDT when Season 20 of “FWL” returns this fall.
