Four Injured After Multi-Vehicle Crash Involving School Bus In Lexington Park

LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — Four people were hospitalized Friday afternoon after a multi-vehicle crash involving a school bus shut down part of Three Notch Road.

The collision happened shortly after 4 p.m. on Dec. 5, 2025, near Park Pines Drive and Kessler Court. First responders found Bus 222 and two sedans — a Nissan and a Toyota — with multiple people needing evaluation.

The bus was carrying two children, a driver, and an aide. All four were assessed at the scene and declined transport.

Two occupants from the Nissan and two from the Toyota were transported to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Three Notch Road was fully closed while crews assisted patients, cleared the vehicles, and began the crash investigation. The roadway was reopened around 5:45 p.m.

Officials warn that hazardous travel conditions are likely to continue into the night. A winter weather advisory remains in effect for Southern Maryland, with refreezing, slick roads, and icy patches expected to persist into Saturday.

Police continue to investigate the crash.

  1. Somebody(s) not paying attention while behind the wheel. You can’t just watch the vehicle in front of you…you gotta look three or four vehicles ahead. Driving takes your full attention.

  2. If that bus was hit hard enough to knock the rear wheels around, the cars were going way too fast. If they missed the bus, it’s hard to believe they were paying “full time & attention” to driving.

    1. Nobody cares about highway laws in Maryland, they do as they please hence why insurance is so expensive here

  3. Reading the comments and I absolutely agree. My dad is a truck driver & taught us to drive. Living in Atlanta put my skills to the test everyday. If u think MD is bad, don’t go to Atl. Car insurance was more than my car payment & I have a clean record and good credit.
