A free six-week smoking cessation program begins Wed, May 6 at the St. Mary’s County Health Department in Leonardtown.
Classes meet once a week from 6 to 7 p.m. and participants can receive free Nicoderm patches or free Chantix. Call the Health Department at (301) 475-4297 to register. Participants must be 18 years old.
According to the Health Department, children who are around smokers are more likely to have asthma and allergies; colds and coughs, bronchitis and pneumonia; colic; ear infections; and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
