The Calvert Library receives thousands of lovely donated books. JoAnn Larkin of the Friends of the Calvert Library sorts through all these donations to get them to the proper place. Those not added to the library collection, yet still in excellent condition, are preserved to sell at the Friends Gently Used Book Sale.
The next such sale is fast approaching. The Members Only Preview Sale and Reception will be held on Thursday, Jan. 7, from 5 to 8 p.m. To take advantage of the first picks at the Members Only Preview Sale, you can join or renew your membership at any Calvert Library location for only $10 or for a whole family membership, only $15.
The sale will be open to the public on Friday, Jan. 8, 12 noon to 4 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 9, frok 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This sale is bursting at the seams with thousands of books, ranging from classic fiction and the latest best-sellers to non-fiction titles of all types: self-help, military, biography, cooking, politics, history, you name it.
Friends of the Library are well-stocked with children’s books and videos for all ages โ toddlers to young adult โ so this would be the perfect opportunity to pick up a bagful of books to encourage reading in the kids you know.
The proceeds of the sale are used by the Friends of the Library to provide financial support to many of the programs the library offers and to enable the library to offer services and products beyond the reach of tax dollars. For more information call (410) 535-0291 or (301) 855-1862.
