MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — Family and friends of Megan Rowley, a woman left in serious condition after a devastating car accident in May, invite the community to join them at Hill’s Store on Saturday, July 19, to fundraise for Megan’s recovery.

Hill’s Store is located at 29933 Point Lookout Road. The fundraiser will feature a cornhole tournament, a pool tournament and a silent auction. Registration for the tournaments starts at 11 a.m., and the silent auction will be held at noon. All proceeds will go directly toward Rowley’s recovery.

Rowley was involved in a head-on collision when another driver veered into oncoming traffic, likely due to a medical event. Since the accident, Rowley has undergone seven surgeries. She was moved from the hospital to a rehabilitation center in Baltimore on July 4. According to Megan Rowley’s sister, Katie, Megan is still unresponsive at this time.

Katie Rowley is organizing the fundraiser with friends and has been amazed by how much people have been “showing up and showing out” for Megan since the accident.

“That’s what I’m most excited to tell her,” Katie Rowley said. “I can’t wait for her to see how people have come together to help her.”

Rowley referenced her strong support system of friends and family, and the community as a whole. Her sister, she says, is “so high energy,” an optimistic, free spirit who loves to fish and longboard and adored her dog.

“You couldn’t find a nicer person. She’d give you the shirt off her back,” Rowley said, adding, “We’re just so appreciative. The way everyone has rallied for her and shown up has been so amazing.”

Rowley said the family is looking forward to connecting with people at the fundraiser and that they feel “hopeful” about Megan’s recovery.
