Celebrate the St. Mary’s River at the 12th Annual RiverFest, on Saturday, September 24, 2016.  Festivities will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine, at Historic St. Mary’s City.

Discover 101 ways to protect and enjoy our waterways.  Enjoy live music, featuring the Chesapeake Charter School Chorus, the Bushwood Mill Band, and Indian Summer.  Try kayaking, seining, and other environmental activities.  Visit exhibits about local flora and fauna and take home a free Bay-Friendly Backyards booklet.  Get your face painted and come face-to-face with birds of prey, sea horses, oysters and other seldom-seen neighbors.

The St. Maries Citty Militia will hold their annual muster in conjunction with RiverFest.  Experience the sights, sounds, and smells of a 17th-century militia assembly as citizen-soldier re-enactors prepare to defend the colony against Virginians and pirates.   March along as militia men practice drills.  Follow smoke and fire to a mock battle and musket demonstration.  Visit militia families carrying out every day chores in camp.
