CHESAPEAKE BEACH, Md. — Two men were arrested after an altercation near Kellam’s Field left one man with multiple puncture and stab wounds, and investigators later found a broken flathead screwdriver with suspected blood near the scene, according to charging documents.

Nathan Oliver White, 44, of Chesapeake Beach, is charged with first-degree assault and second-degree assault in connection with the May 30, 2026, incident.

David Reidy Brosnahan, 54, of Washington, D.C., who was injured in the altercation, was later arrested in a separate case after authorities said he became unruly at CalvertHealth, threatened hospital staff and refused to leave the property. Brosnahan is charged with disorderly conduct, trespassing and failure to obey a lawful order.

A Calvert County Sheriff’s Office deputy was working an off-duty assignment at Traders Steak and Ale, located at 3855 Gordon Stinnett Avenue, when he was alerted to a dispute involving two people outside the establishment, according to charging documents.

The deputy responded to the parking lot area and found Brosnahan bleeding heavily from injuries to his arm, face and body. Several people at the scene identified White as the alleged assailant, and witnesses and staff reported seeing White walk onto the deck area of the establishment after the physical altercation ended.

Authorities said part of the altercation was captured on surveillance footage. In the footage, White was allegedly seen wearing dark-colored pants and a red shirt. Deputies said White left the scene and was later located a short distance away after changing his shirt.

During a search incident to arrest, deputies reported finding the red shirt concealed inside White’s backpack.

A canvass of the area showed the altercation began near the pavilion at Kellam’s Field, located at 3825 Gordon Stinnett Avenue in Chesapeake Beach. A deputy searching the area found a broken red-and-black flathead screwdriver, with the handle and shaft separated, according to charging documents.

Deputies reported seeing trace amounts of suspected blood on the screwdriver and on the ground nearby. A crime scene technician responded, processed the scene and collected the evidence.

Investigators also found a trail of blood leading from the Kellam’s Field pavilion, across a small footbridge and onto the property of Traders Steak and Ale, where deputies had located Brosnahan.

Brosnahan was transported to CalvertHealth for treatment. Deputies reported observing several puncture or stab wounds on his back and rib area, a large laceration on his lower right side, and additional cuts or puncture wounds on his stomach. The wounds were described in charging documents as consistent with a sharp object such as a screwdriver.

Brosnahan told deputies he knew the other person only as “Nathan” and had seen him before while riding the bus. He told investigators the two encountered each other near the Kellam’s Field pavilion, argued and became involved in a physical fight. He later discovered he had been stabbed or cut, according to charging documents.

White was interviewed after being advised of his Miranda rights. Deputies said White acknowledged knowing Brosnahan from the bus and said the two had been involved in a dispute. White also allegedly said he had been wearing a red shirt but removed it. When asked whether he had stabbed Brosnahan, White made no comment, according to charging documents.

White was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center for processing. Court records show he was ordered held without bond on May 31, 2026, and again following a June 1, 2026, bail review before Judge Michelle R. Saunders.

Brosnahan was later arrested in a separate case after authorities said he became unruly at CalvertHealth, threatened hospital staff, refused to leave the property and was charged with disorderly conduct, trespassing and failure to obey a lawful order.

Court records show Brosnahan was released on recognizance following a bail review on May 31, 2026.

A preliminary hearing for White is set for June 26, 2026, in Calvert District Court. A trial in Brosnahan’s separate hospital disturbance case is set for July 29, 2026, in Calvert District Court.
