SEVERNA PARK, Md. — A Glen Burnie man is facing multiple charges after allegedly robbing a taxi driver at gunpoint in Severna Park on May 1, 2025, according to the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
Officers responded around 5:50 p.m. to the area of Ritchie Highway and Earleigh Heights Road after receiving a report of an armed robbery. A 63-year-old taxi driver told police that a passenger demanded his cellphone and struck him in the head with a handgun before fleeing on foot.
Officers quickly located and arrested the suspect, identified as Jermaine Mitchell, 43, of Glen Burnie. He was taken into custody without incident.
Police credited the department’s Real Time Information Center (RTIC) for assisting in the swift arrest and recovery of the weapon, which was determined to be a black BB gun marked “Glock 17.” The replica firearm was found discarded near a nearby firehouse.
Mitchell is charged with first- and second-degree assault, armed robbery, theft, providing a false statement to a peace officer, and multiple drug-related offenses. He is being held without bond and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on May 28 in Annapolis.
