
HUGHESVILLE, Md. – The Southern Maryland Agricultural Development Commission (SMADC), a division of the Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland (TCCSMD) is inviting submissions for the Southern Maryland Buy Local Guide, Farmers Market edition. This consumer directory showcases local farms and producers offering direct sales of Southern Maryland farm products.
Farmers markets in the five-county region—Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, Prince George’s, and St. Mary’s counties—are eligible to submit listings. Markets from greater Maryland, the Metro DC area, and Virginia that feature Southern Maryland farm vendors can also apply. Key eligibility criteria include:
- Farmers markets located in Southern Maryland.
- Markets in greater Maryland, Washington DC, and Virginia hosting Southern Maryland vendors.
- Highlighted markets that accept federal nutrition program benefits and offer Maryland Market Money (MMM) matching dollars. Farmers markets interested in diversifying their revenue by accepting federal nutrition benefits are encouraged to apply for the MMM program at http://www.marylandmarketmoney.org.

All listings for the Southern Maryland Buy Local Guide must be submitted by March 17, 2025. To submit a listing, visit the SMADC website, locate the Application Form under ‘News/Events’, and note that there is no charge for listings. The 2025 guide will be published online in early spring and can be accessed on the ‘Get Our Guides’ page at http://www.SMADC.com.
