Harrowing Rescue: Driver Trapped In Embankment Crash, Airlifted To Trauma Center

FAULKNER, Md. – A serious single-vehicle crash on Crain Highway near Rochester Place resulted in one person being airlifted to a trauma center late Thursday night.

Emergency personnel responded to the incident on September 12, 2024, at approximately 10:47 p.m. A witness told 911 dispatchers they saw a car veer off the road.

Upon arrival, rescue crews found the vehicle about 75-100 feet down an embankment, with one occupant trapped and injured. Firefighters successfully extricated the patient within 25 minutes.

EMS evaluated the patient on the scene and requested a MEDEVAC. Maryland State Police, Trooper 7 helicopter responded to a nearby landing zone established by firefighters.

The patient was subsequently flown to UM Capitol Region Medical Center for treatment. The extent of their injuries and the cause of the crash are currently unknown.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
