The St. Mary’s County Historic Preservation Commission is seeking nominations for the Board of County Commissioners’ Annual Historic Preservation Awards. Established in the spring of 1999, these awards recognize outstanding achievement and excellence in the field of historic preservation in St. Mary’s County.
Awards are offered in two categories: Preservation Project Awards recognize specific projects or accomplishments in restoration, research or education. Preservation Service Awards recognize long-term commitment and service to preservation in St. Mary’s County. The project must have been completed by January 1, 2010.
Individuals, businesses, and organizations are eligible for the awards and self-nominations are accepted.
Nomination forms are available on the Historic Preservation Commission webpage, at the Department of Land Use and Growth Management reception area, and at all three St. Mary’s County Library branches. To download the form, log on to the county’s website at www.stmarysmd.com and click on Volunteer Boards under the Government box. Completed nomination forms must be received by March 31, 2010.
