On November 8, kids ages 9-12 are invited to cruise on down to Historic St. Mary’s City , step onboard a tall ship, and learn the truth about a pirate’s life. We’ll sort out history and Hollywood. Find out if pirates really made captives walk the plank. Hear the story behind the Jolly Roger flag and learn what’s behind those pierced ears. See weapons like those used by pirates, including small arms and swords, and watch as sailors fire a ship’s cannon. Play a round of Pirates and Privateers – will you be victim or victor?
Meet at The Shop at Farthing’s Ordinary (47414 Old State House Rd., St. Mary’s City) at 10:30 a.m. for this one-hour long program. Entry is $10 for an adult/child pair ($8 for Friends members) and includes full-day admission to the museum.
