Join the Charles County Department of Planning and Growth Management, The Ottery Group, and the Pomonkey High School Alumni Association for a community meeting on Wednesday, July 29 to discuss the history and significance of the village of Pomonkey.ย  This meeting will be held at the Metropolitan United Methodist Church (3385 Metropolitan Church Road) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Public input is invaluable during this process of identifying key properties and community traditions that have made Pomonkey stand out as a prominent community for over a century. It is important to ensure that the Village of Pomonkey remains visible as the Bryans Road/Indian Head area continues to grow. This meeting is the first step in a process to identify strategies for preservation, economic incentives, and community development for Pomonkey.

As part of the process of historical research and documentation, please bring any pictures you may have that depict the community of Pomonkey in terms of buildings, prominent community members, and examples of community traditions.ย  Staff will be available at the Metropolitan United Methodist Church between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to scan and document photos before the community meeting.
