Waldorf, MD โ€“ On June 26 at 10:15 p.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police La Plata Barrack responded to the intersection of ย Route 228 at Greenwood Drive, Waldorf for aย  hit and run motor vehicle collision.ย 

Based on witness accounts, a 2002 Yamaha R1 with Maryland registration, being operated by Ronald Anthony Crews of Waldorf, was traveling westbound on Route 228 at Greenwood Drive at a high rate of speed. A dark blue or black Chrysler PT Cruiser or Chevrolet HHR made a u-turn from eastbound Route 228 to westbound ย Route ย 228 at Greenwood Drive. Witnesses further advised the Yamaha swerved to the left, struck the unknown vehicle in the rear driverโ€™s side area and rolled numerous times causing the driver to be ejected. The unknown vehicle failed to remain at the scene of the collision.ย ย ย 

Crewโ€™s was flown by Maryland State Police Trooper 2 to Baltimore Shock Trauma for treatment of his injuries. He is in stable condition at this time.

Speed and driver error are believed to be the causes of this collision, which is being investigated by troopers from the Maryland State Police La Plata Barrack with the assistance of the Maryland State Police CRASH Teamโ€™s Southern Region Crash Unit.ย
