SOUTHERN MARYLAND — A growing seasonal tradition is returning this winter as the Southern Maryland Holly Jolly Light Trail prepares to brighten neighborhoods across St. Mary’s, Calvert and Charles counties from Wednesday, Dec. 10, through Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2025. Registration is now open for homeowners who want to be featured on this year’s interactive map.

Hosted by The Southside Group Real Estate, the annual event invites families to tour decorated homes, follow an interactive regional map, and vote for standout displays. The free, community-driven activity has become a widely participated event across Southern Maryland, drawing steady crowds throughout the holiday season.

Homeowners can now register their displays at SoMDXmasLights.com through Sunday, Dec. 7. Registered homes will appear on the 2025 Holly Jolly Light Trail map, which is scheduled for release on Wednesday, Dec. 10. Participants are asked to keep lights on nightly through Dec. 30, weather permitting. Photos and videos may be submitted through Friday, Dec. 12, for potential use on the map and event social platforms.

Community voting will run from Sunday, Dec. 14, through Sunday, Dec. 28, with winners announced on Tuesday, Dec. 30. Multiple categories will recognize creativity, technical displays, and community favorites.

The free, family-friendly event includes an interactive map, voting, prizes for top displays, and a fun way to explore new neighborhoods across Southern Maryland.
