On Nov. 21, Deputy Michael Boyer investigated a burglary and assault at a residence in Lexington Park.
Deputy Boyer’s investigation revealed Tavon Purnell Matthews, 29 of no fixed address, forced entry to an occupied residence. Once inside, he assaulted the three occupants with his hands. A friend of the victims responded to the home to assist and was confronted by Matthews who displayed a knife and came at him. The victim retreated and contacted police.
Matthews was located nearby and arrested for Burglary, Fist-Degree Assault, Second-Degree Assault (3 counts), Malicious Destruction of Property and Theft. He was released to the custody of the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
