LOTHIAN, MD – On Friday, July 3 at approximately 9:22 p.m., the Anne Arundel County Police Department responded to a wooded area near the intersection of Margarita Street and Tequila Straight Drive in the south county town of Lothian for a sick/injured subject.

Upon arrival officers located an unresponsive adult male lying on a path. Fire department personnel arrived on scene and pronounced the male deceased. The male displayed obvious trauma and was the apparent victim of a homicide.

The Anne Arundel County Police Homicide Unit along with the Evidence Collection Unit responded to the scene. The victim was positively identified as Joseph Steven Gibbons, 21 of Churchton (pictured).

The victim’s body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner located in Baltimore so an autopsy could be completed to determine the exact cause and manner of death.

Detectives are still examining the crime scene as well as interviewing several witnesses.
