UPDATE 12-22-17, 9:36 a.m. –ย On December 21 at approximately 1:15 p.m., a passerby alerted the fire department to a house fire located on the 6000 block ofย Chicamuxen Road, Indian Head. Fifty firefighters responded to the call and controlled the two-story house fire in one hour.ย 

Further investigation revealed that the fire originated from an electrical panel located in the laundry room. The Fire Marshal deemed it as an accidental electrical fire. There were no injuries reported from the fire but it did cause a massive financial impact. The cost of structural damage is estimated to be $300,000 and $100,000 for its contents. As a result from the fire, two adults and one child have been displaced but are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.ย

Firefighters are currently on scene working to control the blaze. Drivers are advised to use caution in the area.ย
