Funds are now available to assist families in danger of becoming homeless through the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program.  Applications for HPRP are currently being accepted. The program is funded under the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. 

What does HPRP provide?
·         Temporary assistance to households (families and/or individuals) who would otherwise become homeless
·         Assistance to rapidly re-house households to permanent housing
 
Are you eligible?
·         A household’s total income must be at or below 50% of Area Median Income

·         A household must be homeless or at risk of losing their housing “but not for this assistance” rule; and
·         Must lack the financial resources and/or support networks needed to obtain immediate permanent housing and/or remain in existing permanent housing
 
Generally, HPRP funds provide only one-time assistance for a limited time.

Applications may be completed at the Housing Authority of St. Mary’s County or online at www.stmarysmd.com. (Click on Housing under Citizen Services). Return applications to:
