Congressman Steny H. Hoyer [D-MD-5] released the following statement today after a shooting in Webster, New York:
“As co-chair of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus, I join in mourning the victims of today’s shooting in New York, which took the lives of two firefighters and injured three others. Our firefighters and first responders put their lives on the line every day to ensure the safety of our citizens. That these men were met with violence as they were rushing to put out a fire is a devastating betrayal to all of those who protect and serve our communities. I am deeply saddened by this heinous act, and my thoughts and prayers are with the victims’ families. I also join in wishing those who were injured a quick and complete recovery.”
