Calvert High Schoolโ€™s athletic programs gained strength recently when the Athletic Department received three pieces of commercial grade weight training equipment for its students.ย

The schoolโ€™s Athletic Director, Brad Chris, accepted the donated equipment at Calvert High School in Prince Frederick on April 15, whenย Volunteers from the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department delivered a power rack, chest press, and shoulder press for the students.

โ€œOur Volunteers voted to donate this equipment to one of the Countyโ€™s high schools as school budgets are often a reflection of the tough economic times we are all enduringโ€ said Huntingtownโ€™s Chief, Jonathan Riffe.ย  โ€œWe needed to find a place for this equipment as we are no longer in need of it due to the addition of much needed cardio equipment in our fitness room,โ€ added Chief Riffe.ย  โ€œIt was important to the volunteers of our department that area youth benefit from this decision.โ€
