The St. Maryโ€™s County Metropolitan Commission (MetCom) has chosen its new executive director from within its own ranks. St. Maryโ€™s Countyโ€™s water and sewer authority has chosen Daniel F. Ichniowski to be the new executive director, replacing Jacquelyn Meiser, who resigned. Ichniowski had been MetComโ€™s assistant director for the past five years.

The Metropolitan Commission released the following statement on Ichniowskiโ€™s appointment:

โ€œBefore coming to the Metropolitan Commission Mr. Ichniowski was a Senior Project Manager at NG&O Engineering, Inc. where he was responsible for a variety of civil engineering projects. He holds a Bachelorโ€™s of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park, MD and a Masterโ€™s of Science Degree in Engineering Administration from The George Washington University, Washington, DC.

โ€œMr. Ichniowski has worked for over 32 years in the public sector, where he was a Public Works Engineer for the City of Baltimore, Department of Public Works; the Supervisor of Engineering Services, for St. Maryโ€™s County; the Public Works Director for St. Maryโ€™s County Government; as well as the Assistant Director of MetCom for five years and also worked 10 years in the private sector as a Project Manager responsible for a variety of civil engineering projects.

โ€œMr. Ichniowski is a Professional Engineer registered in the state of Maryland; a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers; a member of National Society of Professional Engineers; a member and Past President of the County Engineers Association of Maryland; a member of St. Maryโ€™s County Solid Waste Advisory Committee; a member and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Walden/Sierra, Inc.; a member of St. Johnโ€™s School Board and Parish Facilities Council; a member and past Vice-President of St. Johnโ€™s Home and School Association; a member of the 1994 State Endangered Species Task Force.โ€
