maryland criminal summons

NEWBURG, Md. — A Virginia man is facing multiple charges after allegedly taking thousands of dollars for home improvement work in Charles County and failing to complete the job, according to court documents.

Ahmad Ayyad Odeh, 34, of Manassas, Virginia, has been charged by criminal summons in connection with an investigation into a home improvement project at a residence in the 12000 block of Riverview Drive in Newburg.

According to charging documents, the homeowner entered into an agreement with Odeh for a project estimated at approximately $7,000, which included the installation of a wooden fence.

Investigators with the Maryland Home Improvement Commission determined Odeh did not possess a valid home improvement contractor’s license in Maryland at the time of the agreement.

Authorities allege Odeh accepted payments totaling approximately $3,745 but failed to perform the contracted work and did not return the funds despite repeated requests from the homeowner.

As a result, Odeh has been charged with theft between $1,500 and $25,000, selling home improvement services without a license, acting as a contractor without a license, and failing to perform a contract.

A preliminary hearing is set for June 1, 2026, in Charles County District Court.
