The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is seeking the publicโ€™s help in solving two crimes that occurred in the Twin Beach area of Calvert County this past weekend.

According to Dfm. Melissa Bean, the first incident occurred in North Beach Oct. 20 at 4:44 a.m. โ€œUnknown individual(s) threw and placed two Molotov cocktails at 2nd Street and Erie Street,โ€ Bean reported. โ€œA portion of one Molotov cocktail landed in a residentโ€™s yard.โ€

Bean reported the incendiary device caused $50 damage. There were no injuries. Six firefighters from the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department (Company 1) were dispatched to the scene and brought the blaze under control in two minutes. The fire was discovered by a passerby.

On Oct. 21 at 4:57 p.m., a shed fire was reported at a residence on 27th Street in Chesapeake Beach. Six firefighters from Company 1 were dispatched to the one-alarm blaze and brought the flames under control in five minutes. There were no injuries. The fire was discovered by a neighbor.

โ€œUnknown individual(s) set fire to a mattress which was leaning against a shed and it extended to the exterior of the shed,โ€ Bean stated.

The Calvert County Sheriffโ€™s Office is assisting the fire marshalโ€™s office in the investigation of the Molotov cocktail incident.
