Mechanicsville, MD — The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the arson of a vehicle stolen on September 5th. The 2006 Subaru Legacy was found burned on Monday at a pond off Yowaski Mill Road in Mechanicsville.
According to Deputy State Fire Marshal Don Brenneman, the car owned by Nichols O’Brien is valued at $15,000.
The initial report of the stolen vehicle was handled by the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office.
Since the fire had already extinguished itself when the burned car was found, there was no need to dispatch volunteer firefighters.
