State authorities are investigating a motor vehicle fire in Charles County that they believe was deliberately set. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, the blaze occurred early Sunday morning, Jan. 19 at the intersection of Spring Hill-Newtown Road and Glen Albin Road in La Plata. The fire damaged a 2000 red, four-door Taurus, Dfm. John Ray reported.
“The fire was quickly extinguished by members of the La Plata Volunteer Fire Department after its discovery,” Ray stated.
No injuries were reported and the damage is estimated at $8,000. Ray stated the fire started in an interior passenger compartment.
