Is St. Maryโ€™s County Commissioner Lawrence โ€œLarryโ€ Jarboe (R: 3rd) running for the State Senate from District 29? Jarboe, who is term limited as county commissioner after three consecutive terms, had earlier been rumored to be a candidate but later he told people he wasnโ€™t. Now a Facebook page called โ€œthe Friends of Larry Jarboe for State Senateโ€ has appeared. The page says: โ€œJoin the Friends of Larry Jarboe for Maryland State Senate to encourage Larry to bring his fiscal conservatism to bear and his experience to Annapolis.โ€

Former St. Maryโ€™s Today publisher Ken Rossignol, who is partners with Jarboe in the Chesapeake publication, requested that this reporter โ€œLikeโ€ the Friends of Larry Jarboe for State Senateโ€ Facebook page.

Jarboe has reportedly told people he will make an announcement after he returns from a vacation in Florida.

If Jarboe does file to run for State Senate, he will have company in the Republican primary. St. Maryโ€™s County Commissioner Cynthia โ€œCindyโ€ Jones and Steve Waugh, a Calvert County resident, have announced their candidacy. Waugh won the 2010 Republican primary for the same position.

Whoever wins will face local political fixture Roy Dyson, who will be seeking his sixth term in the Maryland Senate. Before that he served four terms in the U.S. House of Representatives and before that was a member of the Maryland House of Delegates.
