ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Maryland Arts Day, the largest annual gathering of arts professionals in the state, will return in person on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025, at St. John’s College in the Francis Scott Key Auditorium. The event brings together more than 500 participants from every county in Maryland and Baltimore City, connecting artists, educators, administrators, volunteers, and trustees with lawmakers from across the state.
The statewide arts advocacy event plays a key role in showcasing the economic and cultural impact of the arts in Maryland. Organizers are calling for strong community participation to highlight the importance of continued support and funding for the arts.
At Maryland Arts Day, participants will begin with a networking breakfast, followed by a morning session featuring greetings from lawmakers, the presentation of the Sue Hess Legacy Arts Advocate of the Year Award, a keynote speech, and an overview of the state budget. Attendees will also receive talking points and best practices for engaging with legislators.
The afternoon will be dedicated to direct meetings with lawmakers and their staff. Guided by county arts council directors, participants will have the chance to discuss the role of the arts in their communities and advocate for continued support at the state level.
Attendees can expect to:
- Network with fellow arts advocates and legislators from across Maryland.
- Learn about the impact of the arts on the state’s economy and culture, as well as details on this year’s state arts budget.
- Strategize with experienced arts advocates on how to make a compelling case for arts funding.
