LEONARDTOWN, Md. — Huzzah! RenFest Southern Maryland is gearing up for a festive Memorial Day weekend, bringing music, performances and family-friendly fun to Leonardtown.

The event will take place May 23 and 24 at Brudergarten Beer Garden at Shepherd’s Old Field Market, featuring four stages of entertainment, including a tournament arena.

This year’s festival map is packed with activities for all ages, from festive food, ale and specialty cocktails to a fairy trail, unicorn rides and a petting zoo. Visitors can also step back in time with historical demonstrations from the Barony of Dun Carraig, along with daily demos and participatory activities.

This year’s lineup includes acrobatics from Acrobellum, music from The Hooligans, Brandon Kennedy, The Nightingales and Camerata Musica, as well as stage combat from Maul Dire Entertainment. Attendees can also enjoy fire and belly dancing from Shimmy Circus Sirens, aerial performances from Vertical Dance MD and children’s storytelling from Gingersnap the Mermaid.

In addition to the entertainment, festivalgoers are invited to help build “Sammy the Snake,” a growing rock snake created by attendees. Guests can paint a rock and bring it to the festival to add to the community art project.

Organizers recently celebrated reaching 3,500 followers ahead of the event and say excitement is building as the festival approaches.

Tickets are required and can be purchased online at renfestsomd.com.
