Dear Reader,
I would like to introduce my candidacy for St. Mary’s County school board at-large. I’m the only candidate in this race to have attended and graduated from St. Mary’s County Public Schools, and I’m looking forward to applying the lessons I’ve learned to solve some of our problems.
Safety and Security is my top concern. We need to provide updated training and guidelines for our school security guards, so they have the tools they need to be successful. We need to ensure that administrators follow discipline guidelines to help keep our schools safe.
It’s important to have parents involved in our school system. That’s why I support having feedback meetings with our local Parent-Teacher Associations.
Many candidates have talked about recruiting and retaining great teachers, I think we need to start talking about plans. My vision is stepping outside of our comfort zone and advertising/recruiting in the D.C. Metro job market. I strongly believe in providing paraeducators for our classrooms, to allow students more one on one instruction time.
