LEONARDTOWN, Md. – St. Mary’s County Judge Amy Lorenzini was named as one of the 2023 Leaders in the Law by the Maryland Daily Record. The prestigious award is bestowed upon less than 40 legal professionals in the State of Maryland each year.
“This year’s Leaders in Law winners are incredible leaders who devote their time and talents to the legal profession and to the communities in which they live and work. The honorees work in a variety of roles in the legal profession, from ADR to support staff, law firm innovators, justice champions and more,” Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, managing director of The Daily Record/BridgeTower Media. “We at The Daily Record and our event partner, the Maryland State Bar Association, congratulate this year’s honorees for all they have accomplished.”
Judge Amy Lorenzini was appointed by Governor Larry Hogan to the St. Mary’s County Circuit Court bench in May of 2022. Before she was appointed as a judge, she worked for 20 years as an attorney in Southern Maryland. During that time, she was a law clerk to the Honorable Marvin Kaminetz, a criminal prosecutor in the St. Mary’s County State’s Attorney’s Office, and a general practice litigator in the areas of civil and criminal litigation. She was regularly appointed by the courts throughout Maryland to represent individuals in guardianship matters, adoption, and custody cases.
Judge Lorenzini has a long-standing commitment to both the legal and local community. She served as chairperson of the Local Pro Bono Committee for over 10 years, screening pro bono cases and placing clients with volunteer attorneys and has served on the State Pro Bono Committee for the past 2 years. She initiated and ran a pro bono clinic for family law litigants for over 10 years and has recently initiated a guardianship clinic in St. Mary’s County.
Lorenzini has been a “bar leader” throughout her career as a lawyer, wrote Laurence Cumberland. Judge Lorenzini has been a member of the Executive Committee and Board of Governors with the Maryland State Bar Association and has been the president of the local bar association on two occasions. In her role as president of the bar association, Judge Lorenzini organized the bar’s involvement with Christmas in April for ten years and coordinated ten different housing projects between the bar and the Christmas in April organization.
Judge Lorenzini resides in St. Mary’s County with her husband and two children.

More like Judge Arms Lorenzini! Dang, what’s your workout regimen your honor?! 💪💪💪
Thank you for your service to St. Mary’s, your tireless efforts are seen throughout!
Absolutely wonderful judge. She was the judge for my case and actually listened and followed the protocol as to what the others parties needed to do in order to make changes etc. The other judges would entertain the other parties and make changes etc. Without proper filings. I hope she is the judge in my case all the time!! A REAL judge who actually listens to the case and doesn’t just throw whatever out there like I have seen in the past. Way to go your honor!!!
This is so delightful to see! Judge Lorenzini is already making a positive impact on the communities of St. Mary’s County. She is so deserving of this award.
