Leonardtown, MD – What better way to kick off the upcoming summer season than with a ribbon cutting for a cool, new playground?ย  This one has it all!

The new playground at Fifth District Park in Mechanicsville includes play areas for children ages 2 โ€“ 5 and 5 โ€“ 12; rubber safety surfacing and is fully ADA compliant.ย  The park is located atย  37880 New Market Turner Road in Mechanicsville.

โ€œWe hope that families will join us at the park for the ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at 1:00 p.m.โ€ stated Arthur Shepherd, Director of Recreation and Parks.ย  โ€œThe new playground has many inviting and physically challenging features including various climbing structures.ย  Children will surely spend countless hours enjoying the new facility, which has a more modern โ€œvibeโ€ than playgrounds at other county parks.โ€

The cost for the project was $200,000. Funding was provided by the Commissioners of St. Maryโ€™s County and Marylandโ€™s Program Open Space.ย
