A Lexington Park family of four was put out of their home after a fire Monday night that spread from the kitchen.

 Bay District Volunteer Firefighters were dispatched to 21465 Sydney Drive at 7:20 p.m. Upon arriving the call was upgraded to a “working” house fire in the kitchen of a double-wide mobile home.

 Additional fire companies were quickly called off, because firefighters on the scene knocked down the flames in less than 3 minutes.

 The American Red Cross Southern Maryland Chapter was called to the scene to assist a parent and three children, of ages 1, 6 and 8.
