The three-month investigation of the La Plata taggings that had taken place on August 20 and 21 based upon reported graffiti and destruction of properties on Centennial Street and St. Marys Avenue in La Plata led to local authorities charging two 13 year old juvenile males.

When the incidences occurred, La Plata Police Officer, Cunningham documented all evidence, photo’s and follow-ups the next day. “He did a very good job” said Chief Gittings.

Detective Godwin was the investigator over the next three months on this case. “All the Officers assisted in the investigation” stated Chief Gittings. Det. Godwin charged the juveniles with the following offenses:

The first juvenile male is charged: with 19 counts of destruction of property.

  1. 1 count destruction of property scheme (working with other people) equaling over $500.00.
  2. 4 counts destruction of property under $500.00.
  3. 1 count damage and tampering with a motor vehicle.

The second juvenile male is charged with: 2 counts of destruction of property under $500.00.

  1. 1 count of destruction of property over $500.00.

During the investigation it was determined a third party was involved. A search warrant was served on the third suspect on Nov. 23, at 10 a.m. at his residence with the LaPlata Police and Charles County Sheriff’s Officer.

As a result charges are pending on this 15 year old juvenile.
