Former Southern Maryland Blue Crab catcher Keith Castillo delivered a go-ahead, two-run single in the top of the 12th to give the Lancaster Barnstormers a 5-3 victory over the Blue Crabs at Regency Furniture Stadium.

A substitution late in the game, Castillo came up with the goods for the Barnstormers in the 12th.

Brett Carroll led off the 12th with a single and Gabe Jacobo was intentionally walked two batters later, setting the stage for Castillo. He singled both of them in with two outs for a 5-3 Lancaster lead.

Things started brightly for the Blue Crabs who struck first with two runs in the second. James Skelton broke the deadlock with an RBI triple and Amadeo Zazueta brought him in with an RBI single to make it 2-0.

Lancaster would slowly chip away. Olmo Rosario’s RBI single in the fourth inning cut the deficit in half and Juan Apodaca’s RBI single in the 6th tied the game at 2-2

The teams exchanged runs in the 8th. Lancaster took their first lead of the game on a Blake Gailen RBI double but C.J. Ziegler tied the game for Southern Maryland with his 13th home run of the season.

The Blue Crabs continue their three-game series against the Lancaster Barnstormers tomorrow night at 6:35 p.m.
