Our Executive Director, Susie Thompson, will warmly welcome you, and we will take a moment to recognize our esteemed guests and sponsors. This event promises to be filled with joy, laughter, and memorable moments.
Why Attend? By attending “Laugh Out Loud,” you are directly supporting The Jude House’s mission to help individuals overcome addiction and lead substance-free lives. Your participation and generosity will aid in funding essential programs and services, including our Residential and Outpatient Programs, Sober Living facilities, and Community Education initiatives.
The Goals Of The Fundraiser, New Residential Facility: The Jude House is excited to announce plans for a new residential facility, a state-of-the-art building designed to expand our capacity and offer enhanced treatment services. This new facility will be a cornerstone in our efforts to provide comprehensive care and support to those in need. Your support at this event will help us break ground on this vital project, ensuring we can continue to offer a safe and effective environment for recovery.

Our Mission and Impact The Jude House stands as a beacon of hope and transformation embracing a holistic approach to recovery. Our mission is to break the generational cycle of substance use and work with all aspects of the individual for their recovery process.
In October 2023, we expanded our reach with the launch of our Outpatient Program, which includes an Intensive Outpatient Program, a General Outpatient Program, and specialized DUI/DWI programs for court-mandated offenders. These programs ensure a continuum of care, extending support to both residential patients and community residents.
We also operate two Sober Living facilities: Andy’s House for men transitioning from treatment, and Robins Nest, which will soon open to provide a unique space for women reuniting with their children after years of substance use or incarceration. Both homes are overseen by individuals with lived experience, providing invaluable insight into the needs of early recovery and societal reentry.

Community Education and Support Education is a cornerstone of The Jude House’s approach. Our Community Education program empowers individuals with lived experience to become certified peer support specialists and Community Health Workers. Through virtual and asynchronous training, participants gain knowledge in advocacy, mentoring, wellness, and professionalism. This program has already helped 12 individuals earn their Maryland certification.
Critical Needs and Future Goals Despite our successes, The Jude House faces critical needs. Our facility, originally built in 1935, requires significant updates to remain functional and safe. Essential repairs include updating heating and cooling systems, repairing flooring, and replacing major kitchen appliances. Reliable transportation is also a pressing need, as it is crucial for patients to access treatment, employment, and other services. Additionally, operational funds are necessary to sustain and enhance our programs.
Impact of Your Support The impact of The Jude House is profound. Since implementing new initiatives, our relapse rate has dropped to 11%, a remarkable achievement compared to the national average of 40-85%. Our Workforce Reentry Program has helped 183 former patients secure employment, with 80% finding jobs within 30 days of discharge. The Wellness Program engages over 100 patients annually in activities that promote physical and mental health, including nutrition, meditation, yoga, and creative arts. The Family Intervention and Integration Program has positively impacted over 100 patients and family members since its inception in February 2023. In the last year, 25 patients were placed in transitional housing, with plans to expand this service further.
Partnerships and Community Support Partnerships play a vital role in the success of The Jude House. Collaborations with local organizations and educational institutions provide vocational training, mental health services, and community support. These partnerships enhance the program’s effectiveness, ensuring that patients receive comprehensive care and support.
Looking ahead, The Jude House aims to expand and enhance its programs through capacity-building initiatives and new leadership. With continued support, The Jude House is poised to sustain its impactful services, helping more individuals on their journey to recover and a better life.
