LEXINGTON PARK, Md. – Motorists traveling through Lexington Park next week should expect temporary traffic changes as the Maryland State Highway Administration closes left-turn lanes at three busy intersections along northbound MD 235 (Three Notch Road).

On Monday, Aug. 11, and Tuesday, Aug. 12, one of the two northbound left-turn lanes at Old Rolling Road and Shady Mile Drive will be shut down. Crews will then move south to MacArthur Boulevard and Millstone Landing Road on Tuesday, Aug. 12, and Wednesday, Aug. 13, closing one of the two northbound left-turn lanes there. The final closure will take place at Pegg Road and Buse Road on Wednesday, Aug. 13, and Thursday, Aug. 14, where the single northbound left-turn lane will be unavailable.

Work is scheduled between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to limit impacts on rush-hour traffic. SHA officials said crews will be performing test pitting as part of the ongoing Smart Signal project, which will modernize traffic signal systems along MD 235 and MD 246.

Drivers are urged to allow extra travel time, stay alert for workers and equipment, and use caution when approaching the work zones. All work is weather-dependent.

For more information, drivers can contact SHA’s District 5 Office at 410-841-1000 or 1-800-331-5603.
