Leonardtown Lions Club has been operating for 66 years, but on July 1st it will have a new King Lion, and its first female leader, Carolyn Russell Weiler.
Mary Kukla, who is secretary for the club, said their original focus on sight and hearing has changed over the years and the club is now directed towards any form of service. Kukla also told The Bay Net that the Lions Club is beginning to move towards a younger demographic.
Carolyn Weiler is the youngest of ten children, and was born and raised in St. Mary’s County, graduating from Leonardtown High School.
