LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — Emergency crews responded Saturday afternoon to a water rescue in the Chesapeake Bay near the end of Far Cry Road in Lexington Park, following reports of an overturned boat with three people clinging to a fishing trap net.

First reports came in shortly after 4:30 p.m., prompting a swift response from St. Mary’s County water rescue units and aviation support. Trooper 7, the Maryland State Police medevac helicopter, arrived overhead and was able to successfully hoist one of the victims from the water.

Meanwhile, rescue boats navigated toward the scene and successfully retrieved the other two individuals from the water. All three are now reported safe.
